Distribution and advertising

Distribution:
1. How a product or brand reaches an audience (web, television, cinema etc.)
2. Its marketing and promotion.

Example: July 22 which is about someone who murdered children is coming out on Netflix and cinema. Helps to create a larger scale around the film.

Technological convergence allows audiences to access media content from multiple platforms on one device. It involves the coming together of information and communication technologies to create  new ways of producing and distributing products and services to media audiences.
A black box is a device that supplies us with all of our informational and media requirements (e.g. a smartphone).

Web 1.0 is how the internet was originally. This is where the media only broadcasted a message.
Web 2.0 is the interactive internet. E.g. Commenting on an Instagram post.

A new episode of black mirror is going to have a chose your on fate.

Fallout 76 is a video game that is eternally online.

Web 2.0 allows you to meet new people you would normally never meet before.

Web 3.0
Artificial intelligence
The internet of things

Almost everything is available to you wherever, whenever and for a price that is much cheaper.
A months subscription to Spotify is cheaper than a CD was (£15).

Video games still mostly come in disks. PS4 is backwards compatible which means you can play PS3 games.

The reason Video games are so profitable is because they use the old model.

Netflix today dominates the internet. 15% of internet traffic is Netflix.

LoveFilm by 2014 had become bankrupt because the internet had caught up with them.

Simulcasting
When a media product is broadcasted both online and via a traditional medium at the same time. In TV terms, it could refer to a programme being broadcast on two different channels (such as the French Open tennis tournaments).

In 2018 Amazon prime where the first company to broadcast the Tennis open.

Eleven Sports is the only place in the UK you can watch La Liga and UFC legally.

Amazon shows 20 premier league football.

Sky are allowed to show football games. The clubs themselves are also allowed to saw the games.

Narrowcast Channels
TV channels that distribute special interest (niche) content. For example, MUTV.

The best adverts are those you don know you are being advertised to. For example, the bud light dog.

Clear notes but again, think layout. Colour, images, subtitles, italics, bold... and even more examples - videos of the things mentioned (for example your last two sentences make no sense without the context of the clips).
